Published: Translation of Virginia Woolf’s Short Stories
Twenty-three short stories of Virginia Woolf, half of the Woolf’s short stories anthologized by Susan Dick in The Complete Shorter Fiction of Virginia Woolf, were translated into Korean by the members of the VWSK and published under the title of The Case for Mysterious V by Sol Publishing, Co. on August 23, 2003. The book is meant to introduce the reader first to reader-friendly fiction of Woolf and then to invite the interested to partake of Woolf’s more complex writings. This is accomplished progressing from stories written in a realistic mode, such as “Lapin and Lappinova” to more challenging, experimental writing. We are pleased with the publication of the first volume of Virginia Woolf’s short stories translated in Korean, the first fruit of our collaborative hard work.
The Legacy, the second volume of Virginia Woolf’s short stories translated into Korean by the members of the VWSK, was published by Sol Publishing, Co. on March 5, 2004. It contains another twenty-three short stories, including “The Legacy,” “The Kew Gardens,” and “The Mark on the Wall.” It also features brief comments on each story of the translators to aid the reader’s understanding. With the completion of The Legacy, we have now translated all of Woolf’s short stories into Korean.
